Trip report: Rio Chama, New Mexico
I traveled to Abiquiú, New Mexico over Memorial Day weekend to packraft the Rio Chama River plus mountain bike and hike the surrounding area. This is an amazing part of northern New Mexico, removed from the tourist vibe of Taos and Sante Fe. Abiquiú is bounded by the Carson NF to the north and east ...

Re: New Mexico Memorial Day Weekend - Rio Chama and Rio Grande
Thanks for the suggestions Dave! Do appreciate it! Seems Michael's has gone downhill a bit over the last few years. My new fav for breakfast is La Cocina heading south toward Rancho de Taos. Will be staying in Abiquiu on this trip (my third this year) so will mainly traipse around Espanola and Chima...

New Mexico Memorial Day Weekend - Rio Chama and Rio Grande
Will be doing laps on the lower Rio Chama Canyon section (non-permit) and Rio Grande Race Course run over Memorial Day weekend. Will also fit in some mountain-biking, trail-running and hot-springing.

Re: Tepui Tents
I've spent 20+ nights over the last 6-months in my Tepui Kukenam RTT. I've experienced blizzards, 50+ mph winds and intense rain squalls. The tent has performed brilliantly. I researched RTTs for nearly 3-years before pulling the trigger on the Tepui. If you dig deep, you'll find most brands are mad...

Free Online Mapping Tool for Hikers and Boaters
I've been using Caltopo for some time now to plan my backcountry excursions. This completely free tool was developed as an aid for search and rescue folks. Hopefully others will find it as useful as I have, especially the overlay and exportable file functions. -Paul http://www.caltopo.com http://sec...
