Re: ACA level 3 river safety and rescue class June 14th

Want to ensure that you know how to handle a lazy sunny day float when things turn quickly worse? Think, well I only paddle the tame stuff? Folks, it happens. Over 30 drownings in AR, TX, and OK last month. Two drownings in AR over the weekend on class 1 water. Arkansas ranks #4 in the country in th...

ACA level 3 river safety and rescue class June 14th

I have had a large interest in this class. It looks like I will be hosting at least two this summer. Due to my work schedule and other things in June, it looks like the 14th is the best bet for me. The 1st World Kayak hometown Throwdown for the season will be held at Dierks on the 13th. What better ...

Got the amount needed to break the record today. It's now been the wettest May in AR history. Welcome to the rain forest.

Level 3 river safety interest?

Several of us were talking this week about the need for a level 3 SWR course. Many boaters do not have the time to do a full two day course. Many believe that they don't need a SWR course because they don't boat big water. However, most of the river accidents that occur are on class I and II water. ...

2 more inches of rain to make history!

The NWS service says AR only needs two more inches of rain and it will be the most rain the state has ever gotten in May. The record is 21.38". Polk county/Mena has already broken a record with the wettest May ever and the last time Mena had this wet of a month was in August of 1915. 100 years ...

Re: Future Olympic hopefuls sponsorship opportunity

Well, I'm not sure how interested the club is on spending any of the 100k for this. It hasn't seemed to gain much interest or movement. That's really a shame, because the young ones are the future of this club and this could really attract future kids to this club of we could make it a yearly event....

Re: Strainers on Gulpha

I'm planning to go in next week to take care of them. I paddled it at 800 cfs last week at it was a death trap. I spotted it just in time. Water was lapping over the top of it so it was hidden.

Future Olympic hopefuls sponsorship opportunity

8 teenage kayakers from the ACC team are looking for sponsorship to go to the 2015 NOC Jr. Whitewater Olympics in July. These teenagers will compete against kids from all over the country in slalom, freestyle, and downriver kayaking. Any amount will help, but a donation of $100 or more will get your...
