Re: Monday p.m. date with the Wolf? (Bayou)

Our small contingent of paddlers from Jonesboro has run Wolf Bayou a couple of times this Winter/Spring. The creek was totally clear with no wood issues at all. So . . . should be clear unless new wood came in with the recent rains.

Re: USCA Aluminum Canoe Nationals in Arkansas (July 3 and 4)

I'd Love to do this race, but . . .. .I've got a couple problems. 1) I don't own an aluminum canoe 2) all my paddling buds are occupied that weekend so . . ..anyone out there who wants to race and has access to an aluminum canoe ?? Any takers?? I'm over 40 so if you are to it would be the masters (1...

Re: Wolf Bayou tomorrow? Lance/Cowper peek inside!

Roger,
Thanks for the info. That is a sweet creek. I live in Jonesboro and definitely do not get over there enough. Besides the visual inspection at the take out do you know of any gauge that gives you any idea about the level ?? Strawberry R. ??

Re: Wolf Bayou tomorrow? Lance/Cowper peek inside!

Was there any other consequential wood besides grandmother's house?? Ran it a bit over a year ago with no wood except one tree across the creek in the last quarter of the run. Also, at the put-in, did you guys drive all the way down to the creek ?? If so , how was the road ?? When we drove in the la...

Re: hailstone cr.

We were on the river close to 7 1/2 hours. We kicked back at lunch for no doubt close to an hour so that lengthened it out. Otherwise took only short stretch breaks occasionally.

Re: hailstone cr.

Four of us ran it on Saturday. After noon we were in full sunshine with perfect conditions. Actually quite a bit of color already in the leaves. During the day the level was dropping and the last 4th of the run started getting a bit bony. Only a couple of trees down across river, one of which most o...

Re: Friley Creek (tributary of the Little Mulberry)

Some parts of Friley have been run. Mostly some of the upper drops under lowish conditions. The extreme upper section is on private property (my friend's land). To get on it you would need to get with him on access (which would not be a problem as he is an avid paddler). Alot of the creek has been s...

Re: hero ?

I have an '08 Hero and love it. It has the edges like the Jackson FUN hull which actually makes it much "snappier" into eddies and I think also makes it a quicker boat maneuvering than all my other creek boats I have paddled. As previous post indicated , get it on edge and you will be in b...

Re: New Life and Paddling Moto:

No one has mentioned running the last part of Bald River Falls. If you're on the Tellico it is definitely worth the diversion!! You haul your boat up river left (right side looking up from bridge) to the lower ledge, lower your boat (and yourself) to the obvious ledge, take a couple strokes , and ru...

Re: 08 Hero Skirt

I can second the fact that the Large is the way to go. I have an '08 Hero with the Large skirt that fits great. Tight , but no problem getting it on.
