Re: Replacement for Royalex ?
It seems that Nova Craft has one already and thermoforms the Supernova the Mosie, and the most popular OC1 of all time the Ocoee out of their stuff called T-Formex. They also have an Innegra and basalt fiber (yes the rock basalt) layup called Tuffstuff which looks interesting. D Jackson had a playbo...

Fishers Ford access and availability
Was wondering what the situation was at Fishers Ford. With the upcoming changes, where do you put in now. At the bridge, or elsewhere? Haven't been there for a while and interested. I was fortunate having the same last name as the previous owner and could drive to the Ford when I would teach both Gi...

Re: Canoe camping ?s
Regarding boats, the Buffalo is a blue good choice and readily available from outfitters when they update fleets. The various Mohawk boats are good also. The most important consideration is what are you going to Mostly paddle. Lake or river. This is another topic and plenty of opinions. I have great...

Re: Fishers Ford
I have met the land owner and all he wants is to be treated decently. He has let me drive on his property down to the site. Years ago, he says that some paddlers cut some trees that were in the way and as the trees died out bank erosion occurred and he was po'ed. I wasn't there and really don't care...

Re: stohlquist xtract rescue pfd?
I have both the X-tract D and Descent and have used them both. The X-tract fits very well and the rescue release is easy to get to and activate. The Descent fits ok and the pocket doesn't get in the way of x-strokes, but then I don't pack it up like a kangaroo either. The release is off-set on the c...

Re: Opinion of Mohawk Saddle & Thigh Retainer System?
I have the Mohawk double strap in my Dagger Rival. I moved the setup back toward me from the directions and added some shims to the knee area. Easy to use, holds me in place during a roll, and positive escape for an exit. Have standard double strap setup in my other boat, good also but more stuff sw...

I made my own canoe cart out of old garden cart wheels, pvc pipe, and fittings. If you are handy, old lawn mower wheels are usable. From practical experience use only schedule 80 pvc. It is much stronger than the sched 40 pipe found at Lowes and Home Depot. A specialty or contractor store should hav...
