Another new gauge on Gulpha Creek
This gauge is at the put-in bridge so it should show exactly what we see when we pull up. No more guessing on the upstream gauges. Based on the old gauge we referenced, I would give a minimum of 3.55-3.6 on the new gauge (I'm sure you can bounce down lower if you really want to) to start off with. T...

I don't think you could have hit that line off the falls better!

I tried to drink as much as I could today. Not often I get to give my immune system a run for it's money like this! No explosive diarrhea yet

Re: Yeti coolers: worth the $ or hype?
When I was working for USFWS in Vernal, we had some Yeti coolers and some normal coolers. The Yeti's did better on 7-9 day trips, but I'm not convinced you couldn't make those other coolers just as good with closed-cell foam suggestions above! Also, we made our own block ice (we called it super ice)...

Re: West rafting ideas?
Yampa Canyon and Lodore arent much over 5,000 ft in elevation if they are at all. I know at the Jensen Bridge near Vernal the Green River is more like 4,600 feet. Those rivers only avg 12-15 ft per mile in the canyon sections so you'll definitely be fine!

Re: Green River
Labryinth is absolutely beautiful! It has some amazing side canyon hikes too. This time of year 80% of the water is coming from Flaming Gorge so its fairly clear too. It is flatter than a pancake though! If you want a few rapids, the Green River Daily is just up the road as well. It is non-permitted...

Re: Ot; road trip to WA. Don't miss in the northern rockies?
The Mirror Lake Scenic Drive in the Uinta Mountains of Northern Utah is amazing. It is just south of the Wyoming and Teton Range. Also, Dinosaur National Monument has some amazing canyon views and a huge wall (called the Dinosaur Quarry) of bones still in place where they were found. It is absolutel...
