Re: IMPORTANT: ONSR MANAGEMENT PLANS

More money flowing in Shannon County, Missouri than water. The surrounding counties couldn't be so lucky to have a federally desgnated park pumping all the money into the economy. When I get hard up for funds, I call up some of by buddies in Shannon County. They have piles of cash from all the touri...

Re: Has anyone ever heard of BUI

Spring River generates a lot of revenue for Fulton County businesses. Fulton County had one of the lousiest condition county jails I've heard of, wouldn't meet modern guidelines for an animal shelter. The county was finally able to secure some grant money and is contructing a new jail. The county cu...

Re: Waterproof Digital Cameras.

One of my issues with waterproof cameras was finding one with a 30 second self-timer in the event I wanted to do a self-portrait in the boat. Canon is about the only brand that offers a timer that long, that I know of. I bought their first waterproof model, the Canon Powershot D10. It had absolutely...

Re: Tarp Tents

I prefer to hamock, but it's hard to always find a great campsite. If I'm out solo I stick my Tarptent brand tarptent Rainbow in with my other gear, in the case I don't find a suitable hammock site on the river. It weighs 32 oz, so is barely noticeable for extra space or weight. Since it has one sup...

Re: Dawt Mills

He said they had some specific breed of attack dogs that they tormented, starved and generally treated badly to keep mean. I was eating at Red Apple Grill in West Plains, this week, and told the owner, whom lives there, about this. He got a kick out of it. He said they had labs and a boxer, and the...

Re: Spring, Eleven Point, North Fork...

Riverton Access on the Eleven Point doesn't have camping. The only camping is Cane Bluff, Greer, Turner's South, and Whitten. I think.

Re: Dawt Mills

The monkey people stories always crack me up. I know them. They aren't monkeys by the way, they are chimpanzees. When the chimps were small and controllable they used to take them to the river, and one of them liked to drink beer. Now, that the chimps are older and three times as strong as a ...

Re: Spring, Eleven Point, North Fork...

What are you camping in, trailer, tent? I've only driven through Old Davidsonville once, just to check it out. I have to drive by clear springfed rivers to get there, so the muddy river there isn't on my list of destinations. The North Fork Recreation Area on North Fork River is pretty nice, with am...

Re: Spring, Eleven Point, North Fork...

Just kinda curious why you'd want to camp at Old Davidsonville? Lots of places with better scenery and clear water.

Current, Jack's Fork, Eleven Point, North Fork, Bryant Creek, to name a few.

The White River tailwaters are good for trout fishing, IMHO.

Re: Giving Back to the River or does any one give a............

just because I don't often attend organized cleanups, doesn't mean that I'm not trying to do my part in preserving this beautiful state that I call home. The organized cleanups I've been to have always seemed too hectic, or crowded. But if I can take my time, remain silent, see wildlife, and still ...
