Re: ???
"It is, for certain people, a means to degrade, torture and kill: to make themselves feel superior; whereas 10 year old children can easily rescue themselves and others. " "Unless you want to sell a rescue safety scam. And you think that torturing people to death, even young children,...

Re: albert pike
Albert pike is good and fun. If you really want seclusion and water there is a specific place on the river you need to be. I will take one for the team and publicly disclose the best place on the river for camping  Head towards lil'mo falls. It's several miles back, but you will eventuall come ...

Re: The Power of Water!
A few years ago the house I lived at was only accessible by a mile long dirt road. On this road you crossed a small creek and two (generally dry) low water bridges. When the water would get bad high these bridges would sometimes get 2-4 feet of water. It's amazing how many people would try to cross ...

Re: Good Place to start?
I have been keeping an eye on that thread and was throwing around the idea of driving up there to see those guys in action. The furthest I am probably going to make it this afternoon is the pool in the back yard  If I get back from glenwood in time next weekend (My weekends start at 3PM on Thur...

Good Place to start?
I have been back in the water for a week and everything feels like it is coming back to me. The only thing i have paddled so far is the Caddo river but that was fun becuase at every deep flat stretch I would practice rolling (which is coming along pretty good). This doesn't include every day after w...

Re: PADDLING COMICS
As a kid an old paddler gave me a book after the first time I ran the cossatot falls. It was loaded with kayaking comics and funny drawings (although not really a "kids" type book) but I managed to have lost it a few years ago when I moved. On the cover it had a famous painting of an old c...

Re: The REAL Beast of the Forest
My girlfriend is OCD when it comes to hygiene, and isn't an outdoorsy person. However, she has (somehow?) managed to get Lyme disease twice - in the past two years. The poor girl has only found two ticks on her in the last two years! Can anyone say "Unlucky"? The only thing I can imagine t...

Re: Family Camping
I too will agree to Albert Pike. The only thing that was half as cool as camping at Albert pike as a kid was camping at the Cossatot falls, but for some first timers you really just can't beat AP. Just my .02

Re: Newbie with new rec kayak needs ideas of where to start!
Lifejacket is right: The Caddo is 110% (in my opinion) the way to go. If I were you I would get a friend or two and go to the caddo. There is rentals all over the place, and for a few bucks they will even give you a shuttle. The average float I think is 7.2 miles and right now is a perfect time to d...

Re: Propane Usage Calculation
Not to beat a dead horse here, but...
Now that you have a good guess at what you are working with, just remember: When on the river, propane is much like a pair of dry socks. You may "know" how many/much you need to bring... but you still throw in that extra pair.

That's awesome - the server mounts are still in there
Stick one in the living room with the kayak in it like it's on Display. Maybe even stick a blue/gree/red light at the bottom for illumination.
That's priceless bro

Experience with a Pyranha inazone 240/242?
Hey guys, I ran into a pretty sweet deal on a (almost never used 01') Pyranha inazone 242. Although it's urine yellow, I think I can live with that  Does anyone have any experience with these boats and is there anything you can tell me about it good/bad? My main tossup is that or an RPM Max; I ...

Dude I hope you get your stuff back, and that paddle should be able to be spotted a mile away. Although it's way south of you I will be on the Caddo this weekend and I will keep an eye out. Good luck
