Re: Protecting the Buffalo
Now that’s the Half Ton I like to hear! I know I’ve said some thinks on this post that aren’t too popular with some folks. But I am very adamant about stopping the Hog Farm. It’s not about the data and the numbers. It’s about risk verses the consequences. So really the question is, is the risk of ha...

Re: Protecting the Buffalo
Flying pigs falling dead in the river, now that’s funny! And I did not say anything using the word “dumb ”or” he’s nothing but a troll”. So once again you have your facts wrong.
And once again this is about the Buffalo National River not anyone person.

Re: Protecting the Buffalo
John, I'm confused as someone who has done so much for the Club, water quality and arranging the cleanup of many rivers in our state not to mention some of the other great things you have done for the state of Arkansas. How can you support the C&H hog farm that you know will eventually contamina...

Re: Protecting the Buffalo
Guys Please stop replying to John Pennington's (AKA Half Ton) posts he is only trying to stir up trouble and infighting among ourselves. Please stay on task and support stopping the CAFO on Big Creek that will surly pose a danger to the Buffalo and everything around it. To be this active in promotio...

Re: Carry out Poop Management
Like Cowper said, it’s the enforcement that will be the issue. You have local folks including some of us that will say we have done it this way since Grandpa showed us how. Other’s will simply not care. And then there will be the ones that want to get confrontational with an outfitter or Ranger or o...

Re: RIVER CAMPING 101- Ohhhhhhhhh Cr. . .
Dave is right the Goover Eco-Safe Rocket Box solution is the best way to go. Especially on long multi day trips with 6-20 people. We used 5 of them on a Western Trip this spring with no problem. They are the required gear for rivers like the Middle Fork, Selway, and the Colorado. Those rivers have t...

Re: RIVER CAMPING 101- Ohhhhhhhhh Cr. . .
Hey Richard, I've got a groover and a wagbag toilet you are more than welcome to try. When I got back from my first western trip a few years ago I went and bought a wagbag to use when it is just me and the dogs or up to 3 or 4 people after that it becomes a problem. Plus with the bag system you have...

Re: Alcohol crackdown on Buffalo?
Tim is correct you must have your cooler secured to your canoe and the lid must be secured so it can’t come open if you swim! And being nice and friendly to the ranger or law enforcement officer will go a long ways with them. And like Tim said don’t think they are going to let you get out of a canoe...

Ok, all though I have fought it as long as I can, the forces that rule the universe have sucked me into the Super Massive Black Hole this tread has become. I have read this tread for several days now with considerable enjoyment. I regret you were moderated! Not sure what you said but don’t take it p...

Re: Realistic BR multi-day float trip
Stan is Oooooooooooo…….so right about an escape route. You can page back to last April or May on this message board and read “My Stupid Buffalo Story”. I spent a tense few minutes on the river with the water rising. And I was about 4 vertical feet above the river with a weather radio and really good...

Re: camp pottie?
Cliff, like Dave said the Eco-safe are really good toilets and are approved by the FS, and BLM. But they require clean out at the end of the trip, not a big deal but something that has to be done. There is also a PETT toilet that uses a double plastic bag system that works well for 2 or 3 people for...

Re: BUFFALO RIVER - OZARK CAMPGROUND - Jan 22-24 TRIP REPORT
We missed you MAN! And No Dave we did not put not one boat in the water. It was a disgusting display of killer camp and canoe gear and great stories. I’m not sure how many stories we told but I bet my dog can tell a few now. Dave the tent I think you’re talking about is Roy’s MSR Mutha Hubba HP I th...

Re: BUFFALO RIVER - Jan 22-24
My vote would be to base camp at Ozark bring some wood and have a big fire, bring the boats and play it by ear! That leaves many more options as opposed to camping on a gravel bar which would be my first choice if not for the rain.
