American Whitewater

I noticed that ACC is not listed as an affilate paddling club with American Whitewater. Most paddling clubs across the US are. Does anyone know if there is a reason or is this just an oversight. AW does quite a lot for river sports across the US.

Stolen canoes in Springfield, MO

Stolen Canoes: Dave Millsap in Springfield, MO has had two homemade trailers with several well used Royalex canoes stolen from his backyard recently. I don't know how to repost his original FB post with pics, but go to Dave Millsap on FB and I think the original post will come up. Please be on the l...

Re: Little Buffalo River

When the Buffalo is packed, perhaps an even better option is to put in at Kyles and float to Pruitt. Not many outfitter trips put in there and most privates avoid it cause they want to do the upper when there's water. Long day float but first part has scenery comparable to the upper. Mostly you'll s...

I love Bill Mason. My favorite quote is, "I love canoes. I have sixteen of them. I could use several more, but you have to make do. " :D

Re: The good 'ol days

Wow, Terry! Thanks for sharing the link. Makes the Battle For the Buffalo come alive. I would think the Hedges, Hawksleys, and Neil Compton should be in some of these but I couldn't ID. I sent the link to some of those that might have earlier connections with these people. Makes us a little embarras...

Re: canoeing with kids

Get a quality good fitting PFD and get them out at a young age. I think many people wait way too long to get their kids out and miss some great opportunities to provide outdoor and paddling experiences. We just had the one son, but we took him down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend at under age 2 and h...

Re: Return of the River

We visited the Olympic Peninsula area over Thanksgiving. Every home in that area has a bright red sign in the yard that says, "Stop the Wild Olympics Land Grab". Lots of anti government/environment sentiment locally.
