Re: Gauley Fest 2014

Yes. If you are going to run the river, go another weekend. If you are going for the Fest, that is another matter.

Re: *POSSIBLE* Cadron Trip Sunday 3/9

We were on the Cadron today. It is on a slow rise with snowmelt, not a normal occurence around here.

Re: Who says bigger is better: Super Puma in Lava

As a Super Puma fan, I am saying that bigger is better at Lava. He would have looked better if he would have had about four of them lashed together!

Re: FallingWater TV- EP. 2 "Pinball"

Good video. Which day was this filmed, what was the level, and what brand of raft did you paddle?

Snow in May, Richland in August. Glad to participate in both. First Richland run, 1978, first Richland August run, 2013. Dale said yesterday that his first August Richland run was last Thursday, and his second was yesterday. A great time on the creek.

Re: Rafting the Tot 3/23 Video Edit

There is a difference between rowing and paddling, but the discernment here is only meant to have some fun with Seth. It was his first trip on the Tot, we had a great time, and he is welcome to join us again in the future. I only hope that it is soon.

Re: Rafting the Tot 3/23 Video Edit

I had a great time and the video is nice. Perhaps we can do it again someday. We were paddling, not rowing. David and Rick were rowing.

Double Double: Falling Water and Upper Richland

Several of us ran Falling Water on Sunday when Richland was upwards of 5 feet, then followed that with a run down Upper Richland when it was a tad below 5 feet. For the second time that I can recall doing this, Marcell and I ferried 8 backpackers and their gear across Falling Water from the Richland...

Re: Best Raft for Richland/ Hailstone Runs?

Ditto what Tim said. A couple of other options are a Maravia Spider and a 12 - 14 foot NRS Otter (I think). All of these can and have been paddled and rowed on Richland and the Hailstone. The key to these boats, besides control, is that they are somewhat narrow. Shredders and the smaller Star rafts ...

Cossatot Today

Walter Felton and I paddled from Ed Banks to 278 today. It was a little chilly at first, but the sun came out when we got to the Falls and we finished the trip with the temps in the mid 40s. Saw two river otters and a bald eagle. It doesn't get much better than this on one of mid-America's best Wild...

Re: Back in the Day - Old Photos

I have a copy of the April 23, 1978 Gazette, and the November 1978 American Photographer magazine in which it appeared, but I do not have a copy of the picture. Gary Speed is in LR and I bet he has one.
