Current River Pulltite Spring Group

For those of you who were exploring the spring Sunday morning, I wanted to thank you all again for the unexpected assistance. I really appreciated the help and my wife wanted to be sure and send her appreciation as well! What you all may not realize, is that I get her to take one canoe trip with me ...

Re: Big Sugar Creek (SW Missouri) Trip Report

You should try putting in even further upsteam at Powell- Mike's Creek enters there and there is a campground you can pay a few bucks to keep your car there. Powel to Cyclone is a good float- the low water bride you are talking about is Craig O' Lee- it's fun to run it when the water level is high, ...

Re: good multi purpose canoe?

I'll be curious as to what you find with the Prospector- I waffled between the Prospector 15 and the Mad River Legend 15. I went with the Legend 15 and will be picking it up next week.

I will be hitting the Big Sugar Creek the first weekend in April, but will be happy to give you a quick report.

Re: Mulberry cliff fall?

I'm not exactly sure where this accident happened, but I floated that stretch Saturday. Just before Campbell Cemetary on river left there was a bunch of people partying in that cabin that sits up there on a big bluff. Wonder if it was them??

Re: New Guy

If you do quite a bit of fishing in the area, there is a GREAT forum called Ozark Anglers- ozarkanglers.com Try there for fishing information as the message boards are set up to discuss certan rivers.

Very knowledgable and friendly folks on there who can guide you in the right direction!

Re: 29th Annual Jungle Boater Race (March 14)

Can you give a a little help here- I'm thinking about doing this thing but need some more details. I will be coming from Kansas City and driving back Sunday- what time does this start- and what time would be a guess it would be finished? Also- I'm wanting to stay at a Hampton Inn on Friday and Satur...

Re: Boxley to Ponca

What would you say is the ideal air space at the Ponca bridge to do the Boxley to Ponca run? What would be too low??

Re: Boxley (not hailstone, just hwy 21 down)- Kyle's or Mulberry

Sorry- should have been more specific: I definitely want some rapids, but nothing that is too over-demanding... I've done the Mulberry at 2.5 and it was pretty fun. I've done the Upper Buffalo with 20" of air space and it was beautiful and fun as well. I'm not entry level, but am by no means an...

Boxley (not hailstone, just hwy 21 down)- Kyle's or Mulberry

If all things are equal (meaning floating conditions and water levels- let's say 3-3.5 at Turner Bend on the Mulbery and 4-4.5 on the upper Buffalo at Ponca) would you suggest going to the Mulberry or the Upper Buffalo??

Just curious for your opinions??

Re: Maybe a novice on the Mulberry....

Alright, so here is the update- Saturday we left from Turner Bend and ended at Campbell Cemetary... I will admit, I probably built the river up to be bigger than it really was. I didn't have any problems negotiating with my kayak, as a matter of fact it was 1 level above what I am used to. We had a ...

Re: Maybe a novice on the Mulberry....

Hopefully if I do swim, my dry set of clothes will keep me warm and toasty- If I don't swim, well then it will be a good day had by all! If you are out there this weekend and see a guy with a rec kayak without a shirt on and a stocking cap swimming down the river next to his boat that would be me......

Re: Maybe a novice on the Mulberry....

Thanks guys- I meant 200 last year.. but I wished 200 this year already. It sounds like I have the experience to keep my boat afloat hallelujah, but I should be sure I go with a couple of experienced padlers on the Mulberry. I hope I get a chance this weekend- If I do, I'll let you all know how it w...

Maybe a novice on the Mulberry....

So I might have the chance to kayak the Mulberry this weekend!! I have been kayaking a long time..as a matter of fact this year alone I logged in over 200 miles on rivers such as the Buffalo, Elk, Big Sugar, Current, Eleven Point. I wouldn't consider myself a novice, but I am not sure what the Mulbe...
