this is the helmet I've started recommending in classes, it comes with a wide range of liners. Guarantee to fit, if the included liners don't work, they will send even larger ones to you.

I use the hydoskin stuff a lot also. Works good enough in a pretty wide range of temperatures, and can be a good underlayer for cold conditions.

If you can find a breathable splash top or semi-dry top, that would be the next most useful piece. I use tops over hydroskin or fleece a whole lot more ...

13 foot is my preferred size for whitewater canoes and often the best choice for a lot of people either starting out or maybe beginning to zero in on what works best for them.
