Ocoee. Mid May. Beta and etc.
I'm planning a trip out east, and along the way, I would really like to paddle the Ocoee. I plan on being there around May 16 ish. I don't know anything about the river in terms of release, etc etc. and American whitewater only has rapid names and descriptions. Does anyone have any beta, or a friend...

Re: Snow-yaking
I broke my L2 vertebra last year snow yaking down a hill. The potential for injury is high, because you're trapped in the boat, and there is no control once you reach a certain speed/terrain. Ive since retired from all snow sports and would seriously caution any one thinking about it to just inflate...

Re: Any good places in branson to kayak
On a related note, how would we get a chapter of the ACC here in Missouri, like the ArkLaTx chapters?

Re: Any good places in branson to kayak
Huck, I'd suggest you attend a spring whitewater clinic put on by omp, acc, or mwa. These will introduce you to the fundamentals of boating, allow you to understand the gear, and most importantly, meet other boaters. That's a great way to start, since this is a social sport, and as a new boater, you...

The video boater in the youtube clips is Ken Kruger. Awesome boater, really cool guy who works for ACE. Believe it or not, also quite the skilled musician, you can check out his website here ---->http://www.kenkruger.com/

Jackson Superstar for sale
I have a 2nd Generation Jackson Super star for sale. The boat is red, with all the outfitting, minimal to normal scratches, no body damage. I've paddled this boat down fall creek, the New river at spring flows, and played at rockport and everything in between. It's really forgiving for a playboat, b...

Recommendations for a Rafting Guide
I'm headed to West Virginia in a month to start training as a rafting guide. I'm wondering what kind of gear everyone would recommend I have. I obviously will have a pfd, helmet, rescue knife, whistle, throw bag, but it's some of the other stuff I was hoping to hear input on. For instance, I was thi...

Re: Springfield/ Branson area creeks
Dan,
I sent you a text. I have work at 4, but I'm game before that. I know you probably have class, and it looks like not much will be up except the Bull. So I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed it all keeps going up, maybe we can get on roark or fall creek. If not, it may be a play day at the bull

A Cautionary Tale on snow kayaking
First, let me say, I'm usually an intelligent guy, and this is one of the few times I've been more confident than I should have been in my boat. A week and a half ago, as part of the snow fall, I went with a group to sled down an impressive hill. Of course, I brought my kayak and gear so I could enj...

Re: cossatot dec. 30. if it holds
We will see someone, I'm sure. It's a yearly highlight to be able to get on water with great paddlers from the Natural State. Early morning, but worth it. See ya'll around

Re: cossatot dec. 30. if it holds
Google Maps gives us a 5 hour trip there, and we plan on leaving at 6. So we should be there around 11:30 or noon.

Re: cossatot dec. 30. if it holds
A group of Missouri paddlers are wanting to come down there tomorrow and paddle around noon. Will anyone be there to possibly head down with us, and will it hold? We Missouri boys sometimes gotta have something shown to us, you know the old motto, so we don't really understand ya'lls fancy arkansas ...

Re: Kayak as a gift? Need suggestions
I am 6'4 and 190-200, and I actually did something similar to you guys for my first whitewater trip: went down the cadron in march without knowing anything about wet exits or anything. I bought a Series 1 Jackson 4 Fun, and couldn't have been more pleased. I got outfitted for somewhere around 600 bu...

Re: Jackson 4 Fun For Sale Price Reduced
It's not sold yet. The extras on the boat are the happy feet foot bags and an extra back band from jackson. As for the weight limit, I think the listed weight ranges are up to 210, but I paddled this boat a week or two ago, and at 205, I felt just fine in it. My friends have been in the boat, and we...
