Kings River status
Hey guys, I have not been on here in a some time. I couldn't find the Kings River gauge on the site, maybe there isn't/never was one? I heard much more rain is expected by weeks end. But wanted to know if anyone had knowledge about the level and conditions from Marshall Ford to Trigger Gap or Marble...

Re: Mesh trash bags
I worked in produce for a few years in a grocery store chain, and these river mesh trash bags are exactly the same as the sacs that onions came in. We threw away dozens every week as we emptied the sacs and stocked the onion bins.

Re: Widerness First Responder Course March 16-24 2013
Is this similar to the Wilderness First Aid course offered in the Spring of 2011 at Camp Couchdale?

Re: Why I didn't paddle on Sunday
Were those rafts bought from Eagle Bluff resort on the Illinois River near Tahlequah? I worked there in college and we used blue rafts like that...long ago.

Re: Lower Illinois River- Tenkiller Dam to Gore?
Well, I don't think the run will be in the plans for me. By my calcuations it's only about 5 miles from the Dam down to the Arkansas River convergence. And the river is alot wider and muddy than I expected, with motor boat traffic, so I don't see it a being a fun and quiet kayak run.

http://www.marvalresort.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This is a nice resort, about 3 river miles downstream from the dam. It would be a good place to leave a vehicle and take out. A little further on down, maybe 1 river mile, is the Gore Public access landing, another ...

Lower Illinois River- Tenkiller Dam to Gore?
Anyone ever floated this section of the lower Illinois? I am interested in floating this stretch, but don't know what to expect or know any access points. I have been to the Tenkiller Dam were they release the cold bottom waters for trout fishing, so I could put in there, but don't know about a take...

Re: Book by Kenneth L. Smith
I found a copy and am already running thru the pages. Its really a good resource. Has local knowledge and names of places along the river, along with maps. Its turned out to be far more interesting than I expected.
Thanks for the replies.

Book by Kenneth L. Smith
Illinois River: A People River By Kenneth L. Smith Does anyone have a copy of this book they would sell? I have found some paperback copies on Amazon, but wasn't sure if hard back copies existed first. In general, I like local history about Oklahoma and Arkansas and try to gather books, periodicals,...

Re: Buffalo River on sunday - anyone else
Thanks everyone for your replies. Two things really impacted my plans. First, when I got to Ponca area and camped at Steel Creek Saturday night, my cell phones did not have voice or data signal. So I could not get calls/text or check my email or ACC website for emails/posts. Second, there was a wrec...

Buffalo River on sunday - anyone else
Is anyone already planning to float the Buffalo Sunday from Ponca/Steel Creek to Kyle's Landing? If so, I would like to get in on a shuttle with you if possible. I am just one person and was thinking I might be able to unload my boat/gear at Ponca/Steel Creek and then run my truck to Kyle's Landing ...

Re: Illinois River - HWY 59 (Oklahoma)
Thanks Victor for the reply. What is the scenery like when you put in at OK 59 / Lake Francis and go down river? Also, how far would you saw the float is from AR 59 to the Lake Francis Dam area? I plan to scout out the Lake Francis area in May and heard that remnants of the former dam were still the...

Illinois River - HWY 59 (Oklahoma)
Has anyone floated the Illinois where they put in at Oklahoma HWY 59 bridge? About 15 or 20 miles down river is where Flint Creek (Kansas, OK) runs into it. I have floated the Illinois River section that starts about 6 to 7 miles above Flint Creek, down to my take out at Flint Creek (actually Fiddle...
