Urgent: Need Anyone from LR/NLR to Deliver Signs to Whitewater School

With apologies to Gordon, I was to monitor the Swap & Shop area and made the signs he requested. They are painted on two aluminum shaft canoe paddles and will stand by driving the provided re-bar stakes into the ground or standing them in the post holes of a truck bed. I've worked furiously all ...

Trashy Is as Trashy Does

Found last evening near the Big Dam Bridge, within arm's reach of the curb of the far end of the parking lot for the fishing area: 6 cartloads of fast food sacks and their scattered contents, water bottles both used and unused, beer and soda cans, booze bottles both whole and shattered, hundreds of ...

Re: Spring and Summer Paddling in 2018

Looking forward to getting out there, though vertigo and stamina are still an issue. I think I'm finally up to doing some laid back rec boating on class I-II streams. Driving more than 30 miles/minutes is still problematic, so heads up to anyone close to NLR when the time comes to hit the road and h...

Dumping of Animal Carcasses Along Waterways

This morning, my dog and I explored the put-in on the west side of the Hwy 64 bridge over the Cadron. We found recently dumped crates of fruits and veggies atop tires already there, topped with a fresh dead dog, all cascading down the steep embankment of the slough below the parking area. About 15 f...

Komen Race Rabblerousers

Anybody else planning to raise a ruckus from Down Under . . . the new Broadway bridge? Crane, you rustlin' up that scrumptious grub again? I'm guiding a couple of lady newbies in rec boats at the NLR ramp at 7:15. Y'all bring yo'selves, your pink whatevers, noisemakers, etc. It'll be a hoot for hoot...

Eclipse viewing via watercraft, anyone?

I need a vacay and a destination/activity. Hmmmm . . . solar eclipse, path of totality not too far from Little Rock, forecast presently calling for 30% here (meaning cloudy, at best) and in TN/SC whitewater region, but clear due north of hear in MO. Hmmmmmm . . . .

Anybody have any idears?

Re: Caddo below DeGray?

Gracias mis amigos kayakeros. We'll check it out. Jim, did you make it to Rockport today? The potluck was nothin' but a bunch of kale salads and cold pasta salads. We carnivores :jaws: got to get some yard bird :chicken: or lil' fishies :fish: or something more substantial! Aaaargh!

Caddo below DeGray?

If the release schedule for Remmel-Rockport doesn't work for us tomorrow, we'd like to check out the Caddo below DeGray. What do we need to know? Would we need a shuttle or is it mild enough to paddle upstream to return to the put-in?

Say whaaaaaaat? I thought they normally start releasing about noon and peak flow hit the ledge about 3:00. Have the milder temps lowered demand for elec?

Re: Remmel Dam to Rockport on Sunday The 25th

Thia and I have yet to unload the boats from River School and were thinking about doing so at Remmel Dam this Sunday. However, it would be closer to 1:00 or 2:00. It's Potluck Sunday and we'd hate to have to choose between a free buffet vs. paddling with Krueger. Sooooo, Jim, if we could have the be...

Date set for Surf'n'Turf?

Has a date been set for this year's S'n'T? A group of about six middle-aged ladies are looking for a "field trip" experience in the Hot Springs area. I mentioned S'n'T and they liked the sound of it. Two or three novice kayakers would head to Remmel with me and others might prefer to ride ...

Cool. We've paddled together before, I believe, probably on the Caddo and/or Cadron with Krueger or Crane, haven't we?

Rockport or Saline Memorial Day

Helping a friend develop some basic rec boat skills. We'll be on Lake Beaverfork tomorrow and then I'd like to work with her on moving water on Monday. Is anyone available to shuttle with us on the Saline near Bention or Remmel-Rockport on Memorial Day?

Re: School of River Paddling Registration - OPEN

I'm trying to renew my membership and sign up my household partner, Thia Beene, as a birthday gift. I'm lost in the process, chasing my tail in circles, resetting passwords, opening emails, still getting locked out, etc, etc, and getting really frustrated. I don't get along with technology and find ...
