Thomas Creek footage from 2015

Fun times with some ACC folks on a relatively unknown steep creek this past spring:

Historical note: Randy Jackson was the pioneer of this one back in the 90s. I'm pretty sure the undercut-laden sluice at the end of the ...

Re: Thoughts on North Carolina and Colorado.

Gear dries out in CO in 30 min vs. 4 days in NC. And legal adult cigarettes and chocolates. I'm just sayin.

Re: Yeti coolers: worth the $ or hype?

panicman wrote:$550 for the 80qt :wht: I think I'll stick with my $40 coleman extreme and $5 foam lid insert.
I heard a guy won the Fibark freestyle competition in a Jackson cooler last year. And then handed out ice cold beers to the judges and spectators. You just can't put a price on that kind of performance.

Re: Yeti coolers: worth the $ or hype?

If I was going to spend that much I would get a Orion Cooler made by Jackson Kayaks.
maybe even one that matched my boat.

Man, I'm not a big cooler user these days, but I gotta get one of those orion coolers. Camo ...

Re: Packrafting anyone?

I bought one of these last year:

Bought the backpack with it. Can pack camping gear inside the folded boat. Very light, pretty cool design. Not really a whitewater rig, but tough as hell and can take collisions with rocks (but ...

Re: Three Creek Updates......Trees Or No Trees???

Yep, I've got a six pack for anyone who helps trees blocking Fern Gulley find new homes outside of the creekbed. We had a low-runnable level on it Monday morning, but opted for White Rock Cr. - one hell of a "consolation prize"! - partly because we knew the end of the creek is choked with wood ...

Re: What's the Coldest Weather you Paddled?

It's not just the air temp that matters in terms of cold... Coldest I remember it feeling was a run down Boxley Valley. Temp in the morning 34 deg. Temp at launch 27 and dropping fast. Temp when I got home about 20 and still dropping. Wind 20+ mph, blowing sleet and snow. Water freezing on my ...

Re: WHAT'D YA PADDLE IN 2014

And I just noticed on your list the Santa Maria in Mexico... you paddled like 3 of my top 5 bucket list paddling places. In one year. Wow.

I'll look forward to a year like that someday. I've had some really good ones before. 2014 was only a handful of paddling days for me, but I made 'em count ...

Re: whitewater kayaking and corrective eyewear

I've always worn glasses, contacts drive me nuts (more nuts than usual). They fog. I've paddled lots of whitewater pretty much one-handed while wiping glasses. Memorable Upper Gauley trip one time where I think I could see where I was going about 40% of the time. Fun times...

Nothing has ever ...
