The degray nest has two eaglets that fleged last week @ 3 months of age and the Ouachita nest has two eaglets that are about 6 weeks old. Here is a link to som...

Re: Rare sighting on bird island
Apparently the pelican is big news to birders around here. I will tell the park service the pelican is still here. The martins will be gone soon and the eagles will be back.
Do you have the date and time and location of sat sighting?

Rare sighting on bird island
Paddling out to bird island before sunrise was really enjoyable. Arrived 30 minutes before daybreak under a full moon. Daylight arrived and things got busy. I think every egret in garland county was on the roost along with thousands of purple martins. A brown pelican that had been sighted by the sta...

Re: old children
The ramp had left when I arrived. I was only there for a little bit or I would have gotten more photos.

Re: Kayaking in the Destin FL area
ocean+waves=surfing or go farther east and check out the black water rivers and swamps or mangroves. Charter a boat at destin and go fishing. Wright-Patterson and Pensacola Air Museums is a must if you like aviation. http://www.cdsg.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=381" onclick="window.open(this...

Re: Lake Ouachita Bird Island Babies
It is amazing to me how fast the Egret babies are growing on bird island. Not as hard to see this week but all the branches in the way makes getting a good photo tough. Here are a few more; https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WaVyzWgJfaE/ThO3fXti6QI/AAAAAAAAH6o/zTW-hu8-Jyg/s800/egret%252520babies%252...

Lake Ouachita Bird Island Babies
The egret babies are here and are well hidden. Nests will get crowded in the next couple of weeks and will be easier to see. I paddled out to Bird from Buckville church yesterday( wed the 29th) and the heat and humidity was mean even with a light breeze after the previous day of rain. Also starting ...

Re: bird isle
I was on the water today @ 0545 and what a beautiful sunrise it was. Should have been there sooner. This is the path I took . The wind picked up early and my time there was cut short. A quartering crosswind from the west @10 knots made the paddle back wet but the wind felt good. https://lh4.googleus...
