Re: pick a Buffalo section...

Whichever has the water. If both have water, Mt. Hersey to Woolum will most likely be less crowded. Two really different characters of river between the two sections. Mt. Hersey to Woolum is more intimate, with moderate size bluffs and maybe a touch more available shade on the water. Below Buffalo P...

Minna, Carver to Mt Hersey. I was disappointed no boat wrestling pics. Doug, was great to meet you guys also. Glad you didn't camp on the river?. You prolly would have had weather sattelite with an internet linkup mounted in that cockpit on your boat too, huh? You guys head home after or camp somew...

Re: I sooo hope this is wrong

seems hard to believe the river spiked up 5 feet with no other creeks coming up I was told that all the big rocks on the downstream end of the Carver gravel bar were under water when they went to pick up the vehicle there early this afternoon. Only one of the rocks was 99% submerged when we left Sa...

Oh yes, there's more, but I know the parties involved will tell it much better than I. If they don't fess up pretty quick though, I'd be happy to add embelishments - true or not! :D

Re: Need Buffalo Trip report from Sat 6/13 Overnight Campers!

I talked to Stephanie about 2:30 this afternoon. They're fine. Got rained on pretty hard and had to move higher up on the gravel bar. River came up quick, but did not inundate the bar. I am told they had an uneventful, although fast, trip on down to the take-out. this morning.

Re: Trip Report Buffy Overnighter

Thanks to all for the hospitality and great company. I Especially appreciate the welcome given my son, Will, on his first time in a canoe. He even admitted he had a good time and would like to go back sometime soon! We've got another boater in the making here I think. Great pics Sharkattack, thanks ...

I like the 0930 even better. We'll be there. We may also push our Friday arrival up in order to help secure camping.

Re: 6-13, 14.... Buffy overnighter

Gutit, yes the gauges have changed some. Pruitt is at 4.49 right know and still rising slowly. I'd guess it'll plateau tonight without anymore upstream rainfall. I did Pruitt to Mt. Hersey @ 4.6 in a loaded solo boat and did not drag, so day floating Carver to Mt. Hersey should be no hassle. Carver ...

Carver - Mt. Hersey would be a great day float. Water's coming up. Looks like our choices will be many.

Re: 6-13, 14.... Buffy overnighter

I think I may have talked my son (18yo) into accompanying me on a Buffalo trip. Would be his first time floating and I couldn't think of a better place and bunch of folks for his first. No promises yet, but we're sure considering joining you this weekend. Not overly picky about the section. Pruitt-M...

Re: Friendly ranger encountered on Buffalo

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." That was one concept my parents pounded into my thick skull as a kid. Certainly seems to apply here as well. Of course, so was the concept of personal responsibilty as mentioned above. Hence, I've known since before the interweb even exis...

4.6 is a nice level for Pruitt to Mt. Hersey. :) A few places where you have to choose wisely, but I didn't drag anywhere.
