1. Does anyone have experiencing floating this river and area? if so where did you put in and out?
2. does anyone know of local campsites or outfitters if i want to just rent a canoe up there and not take mine.

In about a month I'm wanting to float the Ouachita from 270 Access Area down to the last campsite before the Lake. About how long is that float this time of year?

I am getting a 17 foot canoe. I have a 2003 4Runner. I am looking for suggestions on the following:

1. Wall Mounts for Canoe. Any recommendations? Something for garage that takes up the least space.

2. Rack for the top of the 4Runner.

Hey guys,

We floated the Ouachita River monday in a 17 Old Towne Canoe (Penobscot).

We floated from the McGuire Access to Cherry Hill Access. We did some fishing. We were eat up with goggle eye. We didn't fare as well with the bass.

As a side note, I am looking at getting one of these Ole Townes ...

what about if i end up using just step up from an ultra light? and some like 8 lb test?

some heavier top water baits?

What do you guys like for top water type action?

any favorite lures?

Does anyone know of any property for sale on the ouachita?

I have family in Mena. I was wanting something small, possibly bordering on national forest for my hunting friends.

I am just wanting something to get me on for fishing.

any ideas?

Need Direction:

1. What kind of gear does a newb need? Best canoe for a newb?

2. Best way to learn good canoeing? I am generally going to be a canoer to get out to some fishing.

3. Any other keys for a newb canoer are appreciated.

I waded out on the Ouachita River at the Cherry Hill access and caught some largemouth. How far up the Ouachita can you find smallies?
