Re: Boater friendly towns/jobs

I also highly recommend the PNW. We ain't ever moving back to the Southeast. I thought I would mind the rain here in the Seattle area, but more rain means more snow in the mountains! Cost of living is higher, but the minimum wage is also much higher, and there is no state income tax. Once you get ou...

Nice. Always at classic. During desperate dry times in Georgia, we would boat section IV down to 0.5 on the gauge....always fun.

Re: Rockport Friday

Thanks for the heads up Cowper. I was bummed I could not make it the ledge on Sat because of family duties. Glad to see Arkansas got some rain over the weekend. It came down hard on Sat afternoon in Malvern. Hi Tim, I hope all is well in the Prophet. I sure do miss the warm waters of the Ocoee. If y...

Rockport Friday

Hi all, I'm going to be in Malvern visiting the fam over the weekend and would like to make it over to Rockport for some play on Friday afternoon. Will there be any water and will there be other boaters out there? I hope to see some familiar faces. Can't wait to wear the shorty drytop (or no drytop)...

Re: People Going to Beech Creek tomorrow.

I hear you James, frustrating for sure. Chris and I ran into people not wanting to boat with us for whatever reason when we first moved out to WA state... even class III-IV! I guess you just can't expect too much when approaching a new-to-you group of boaters. Just keep boating, people will eventual...

Re: Paddling in Washington

Kevin, If you are going out there in the next month or two, the Wenatchee is a great play run that is super close to Yakima. If you want some creeking, Icicle Creek is just up the road. There is a big mudslide blocking the road to a lot of Icicle right now, but it should be cleared out by Memorial D...

Re: tylers waterfall record broke

Oh man, you got me. I've only run 20+ footers, a 30 footer a handful of times, no 35ers. I am actually speaking more from a conversation I had with my husband, who has run lots of big drops. But what does he know... I just think that being fearless has little to do with skill. Kind of sorry I said a...

Re: tylers waterfall record broke

Wasn't Joel's first sentence "big waterfalls = big balls." I doubt he's objecting to the "man-up" factor in running that drop. But you'll have a hard time convincing me that the technical skills, a.k.a. boof stroke, timing, and a good angle at the bottom, needed to huck you off o...

Re: Colorado Vacation

Sorry to get a little off subject, but which place has the best park and play...Salida or BV? Ya know, like Hell Hole or better. We're gonna stop by there for a day on our way out to WA.

Re: Whitewater Resolutions

fire up Go Left and Gorilla. Perfect! You'll be ready for the race by next fall! Lol, in my dreams... Wouldn't it be nice to be one of the few girls on that list! Fishie, what I get in location, I have to sacrifice in pay, work hours, stress level, etc. It's give and take but I think worth ...

Re: Whitewater Resolutions

Hi Renee! I've narrowed it down to Hickory, NC (near Asheville) and Bremerton, WA (near Seattle). Gonna get Chris out there over the next couple of weeks and then make the big decision.

Happy New Year!

Re: Whitewater Resolutions

Congrats to you and your new family Fishie! Make sure you let us know the next time you're out East. I vow next year to keep up kayaking and to spend good quality time with my honey, while studying for my hardest boards ever and while starting a new scary job. Oh yeah, and to fire up Go Left and Gor...
