Re: Interest in slolom races????

I am also very interested in Slalom racing. I have not had much time to check the board lately, but I am glad I did this morning and caught this thread. I agree with Heath on the viable locations. I can think of a couple of places close to Okc that could be viable options as well. I basically learne...

Advice on 0 degree sleeping bags?

I am in the market for a quality 0 degree sleeping bag. I want a rectangle shaped bag and plan to spend between $250 and $300. I am not a big backpacker, but I still want a lightweight bag. Anyone willing to share their thoughts?

Thanks, Terry DeMoe

Re: The '82 flood

If I am looking at the map correctly ( I am probably not??) It looks like the area that recieved 15+" is right on the Tot watershed. I am correct in my assumption? If it did man what a sight that must have been!

Good vehicle for gas and kayak transport?

I am in the market for a vehicle that gets mid 30's average MPG and can still be useful for my paddling and biking habits. Most likely a hatchback of some sort?? Does anyone have any suggestions? I am not looking for a brand new car. But, something fairly new that fits these standards. This is obvio...

Re: dave reid

I know Dave is in his low 70's. He turned 70 on his last GC a couple of years ago. I remember him telling me that on the way to Bobby Bohn's funeral. The man will always be a hero of mine. He has lived more than most will ever dream. Get well soon my friend. Thanks for the updates Catherine. Please ...

Re: Boat-based rescue tips

All very good advice! I would like to add to be vocal and communicate with the person or persons swimming. But try not to have too many people shouting different directions at them. And the number one rule don't make any more victims. Always stay concious of your suroundings. Focus on yourself and y...

Camping in Eastern Arkansas?

I am putting together a trip for Tinker AFB (Midwest City, OK) to the Nantahala around Labor Day. We paln to make the fifteen hour drive out in one day. But, on the way home I am thinking about splitting the drive into two days. I believe we will try and make it to at least Memphis or eastern Arkans...
