Re: Looking at cataraft frames

Yes, I remember that boat! I've decided I need a fly fishing/day tripping platform that I can lug around by myself. I "think" I can use my NRS frame off my of my little Otter, with the addition of a couple of side rails, already have the rowlocks and oars... then just buy some nine or ten ...

Looking at cataraft frames

Considering a purchase. Does anyone out there got a 10-12' cataraft I could get pictures of? Extra points if it has an NRS Sportcat frame. Thanks.

Re: The good 'ol days

Dave, I have the Campsite 3 Springbar. I bought it with solo base camping comfort in mind. Obviously this isn't a canoe tent, but I can put it up by myself, and fit a standard rollacot, a comfy chair and small table inside when solo. It has so far survived a couple of good wind and rainstorms. I swe...

Re: The good 'ol days

Dave, who's building modern versions of these open fronts ? Love those tents. Are those Bakers, or Wheelan styles? A couple of years ago I bought a canvas Springbar, ultimate comfort campground tent when the car isn't far away.

Re: inflatable kayak

We have a pair of the Aire Tomcat solos. They are great boats for casual use. We use them for lower water Buffalo and Mulberry floats. Spend more if you want a serious whitewater boat. Several western outfitters have them on sale right now.

Re: Law on the Mulberry

After the last round of these stories, I have a permanently secured mesh bag in my boat. I always strap my ice chest because it has a crappy lock. I have no qualms with reasonable law enforcement because I'm not trying to get away with anything and there's lot of fools out there. However, the whole ...

Re: emerald ash borers & firewood

I carried my own firewood for years. A few years ago we packaged up small pieces of oak for each raft to carry on a on Western trip and were informed by the launch ranger that it was illegal to bring your own firewood into federally managed areas. I think I have seen similar signs posted on the Buff...

Re: SOT Kayak versus Solo Canoe (please advise)

You might consider a Jackson Coosa. It's primarily a sit-on-top fishing kayak, designed for moving water. Re stability, some folks stand up in them and fish. I have a Native Ultimate 12 which I like, super stable but for shallow, moving water I would not recommend.

Very nice! You've obviously put in your time to make these. Love the egret landing on the stump.

Re: Stainless Steel Paddleboy Heavy lifterCart

Eric, any thoughts if this would work on a fishing/rec kayak? I bought a cheapo from academy and it wouldn't even remotely fit. The boats are Native Ultimate 12s, with a sort of tunnel/cat style hull. Definitely I need wheels after dragging and carrying two of them 300 yards or so to launch at Norfo...

What would be a good "starter" oven for two persons? A GSI hard anodized alum size 12?
