Re: Update on Dave Holl / Kayak Instruction in Rowlett

Sad to hear this but glad Dave Holl and staff are ok.

Dave Holl is a neat gent to deal with. I purchased a kayak from him and he volunteered to meet me at a mutual location to reduce shipping costs to zero. Great customer service. I hope he gets things back in shape.

Re: Whitewater in New England?

Every body is different in where they feel comfortable living. Here are some thoughts from my kind of living in that area. NYC would be the last place I would live. Cost of living is out of sight, expensive apartments, forget about having a car in NYC proper - basically a crowded expensive place to ...

Re: Whitewater in New England?

I cannot get into a lot of details. But some years ago I spent a couple years in Boston Mass and Portland Maine. Depending on exactly where you go in New England there is more fine creek and big water runs than you can ever boat. There is a book Creeks of New England (or something similar) that I ha...

Re: A note about Facebook - check there too!

Cowper, I was a early adopter of Facebook. Later on decided Facebook was not for me. I went to the link you posted and the first thing I got was a sign on to Facebook in order to continue. If any one on the board knows how we can check the ACC Facebook page without joining Facebook, I would apprecia...

Re: Missouri Ozarks Paddling: March 2106

Al, man thanks for setting up and your leadership on this event.

I recently discovered just how neat the MO streams you listed are to canoe. And, they can be enjoyed most any time.

Like Mr Deuce allowed, I hope to get up there myself for a few days fun with you guys. :canoe:

Re: 14ft Raft w/ frame and oars

Not very often do we see a slant seat raft row frame.

I have used this type frame a number of times (usually in the stern with a couple of paddlers up front) and the design works surprisingly well.

Re: How many thwarts in your canoe

I cannot comment on the need for extra thwarts, but after many decades of boating with Walter, if he makes a suggestion I follow it. I can comment on the craftsmanship your works shows. That is the best looking Buffalo Canoe (brand new or used) I have ever personally seen. I was down in Chile some d...

Re: OKC Whitewater Park

If memory correct, Fish did a lot of work on an Arkansas WW park in several places around the state. maybe Fish will jump in or someone in Fayetteville who remembers more than I do will. Having worked to create a WW Park here in Tulsa for longer than I can remember, it takes a bunch of support from ...

Re: OKC Whitewater Park

Big Time congrats to the boaters and most importantly the citizens of Oklahoma City for making this facility happen.

Gonna be world class and open up Cowboy Country as a destination for white water fun!

Well done to all who made it happen and yes I am impressed!
